As part of our SCIENCE WEEK in school 30 year 6 pupils visited Leeds University for two science workshops.
The first was a journey into space, looking for proof of life on other planets. This journey was taken inside a Space Dome (we also have one coming to school on Monday!) and was a film projected onto the walls of the dome to give a mesmerising 3d effect.
We then took part in a short engineering workshop to do with understanding and designing portable flood defences whilst considering the essential properties of such a product. We also discussed the jobs that were available in engineering, particularly for girls.
The children had a brilliant time, were very impressed by the University, and hopefully now have aspirations to possibly go there in the future and maybe to consider a career in engineering.
