Charles Darwin

As part of Science Week in school the children had to continue a diary entry with a short paragraph about him after he became ill and passed out.

I was particularly impressed with Nia’s short but effective passage:-

Slowly, he began to awaken.  Above him he could see a plain white ceiling.  He could smell antiseptics, and could hear rattling trolleys and nurses giggling.  Gradually, he tried to sit up but a nurse quickly ran over and laid him back down.

“You mustn’t sit up! You are terribly ill and you need to rest!” she cried.
